Committee meeting

Upper Blue Elementary

February 6, 2002

 

Attending: Bill Bartels, Ev Thomas, Tom Koch, Bill Marvin, Ira Redner, Robyn Cornwell, Lee Edwards,Seth Murry

I. Meeting called to order at 6:57 by Tom Koch

II. Approval of minutes from last meeting

A. Minutes of the January 9th meeting motion to approve by Bill Marvin and 2nd by Ira Redner with corrections. Motion Passes

III. Scoutmaster Report - Tom Koch

Tom will make Mark Saldivar report.

A. Reservations for Sea-Base

There will be two crews made up of 10 to 12 scouts and adults. Cost will be around $510.00 to $1100.00 per person. Information to be sent soon. A deposit of $50.00 per person will accompany application. Mark Saldivar or Ira Redner to give go ahead to write a check for $1000.00 as a deposit. Motion made by Bill Bartels and 2nd by Ev Thomas for a $1000.00 deposit check to be written for Sea-Base.

B. Winter camp out on February 16 - 17

John Wood - Will go to the camp sight on Friday to get things ready. The older scouts will plan the meals, activities, etc... The scouts will make up survival packs, MREÆs freeze dried food. Tom has requested a check for the grocery store on Monday. The location still not confirmed. My be in Giberson Bay. An off shoot of Mc Cullough gulch. Three boys to a quinz. Bill Marvin to ask the forest service if OK to use this location.

C. Robyn Cornwell - Special Olympics at Copper Mountain on February 24th-27th. Time is 7:30 to 4:00. There has been a record number of kids to sign up, 14. We need drivers!!!!

D. Snow mobile certification class. Course to be offered on March 8th and 9th 6:30 to 9:30 or until written test done. Open to boys and adults. This is not a B.S.A. activity.

E. Advancement - Committee needs to know who is advancing and who is not and get help to the ones not advancing. Tom Koch wants a board of review. Boys are not advancing to first class scouts fast enough. Next board of review will be on February 25th. Next Scout Master Conference is February 18th. Tom to set up e-mail for boys.

IV. Outdoor / Activities Report - Mark Saldivar

v. Treasurer Report - Ira Redner.

A. See handout.

$300.00 need for each boy for Philmont. Need to stress activity sign up. Boys responsible for payment if they sign up.

B. Fundraising: See Handout ; Sale went very well. There is room for improvement. A question was brought up about younger siblings working tree lot. No credit should be given to siblings for hours performed for fund-raiser. Ev Thomas makes a motion that any teen or adult who works will get paid and the money can go where ever they choose. 2nd by Bill Bartels. Robyn Cornwell calls the question. All in favor. Motion passes.

C. Medic First Aid: Reimbursement if you pass the class and if you are a Scout Master or Assistant Scout Master. You will need an invoice or receipt and a copy of your certificate. Committee members will pay for their themselves.

D. Up coming events: Ira will need applications and cost for COPE. Needs to know of billing and payment. Summer camp is coming up. Need to make up signs and brochures in March or April for both summer camp and COPE. Ira also requested information on final billing and payment for Philmount.

VI. Advancement Report - Ev Thomas.

Great Court of Honor. Boys did all the planning. Next Board of Review will be February 25th. Ev will e-mail the profile of the boys who will be there. Ev purposes when new boys and transfers come in they should receive from the Troop, a scarf, hand book, and slide. All the paper work has been sent off for the recognition of Bob koch and Morgan Cornwell. Ev to be working on a current merit badge booklet.

VII. Training Report - Lee Edwards.

Working on arranging training for committee members. Possible March 8,9,10. Time and location to be announced . Wood badge program may occur in August or September. Further info to follow.

VIII. Equipment Report - Bill Marvin.

Bill to work on making an inventory of equipment: what we have, what we need, what needs to be fixed. He will start to purchase new equipment need for Philmont. Ira will need to know what Bill will be purchasing so that he will be able to issue a check

IX. Old Business.

NONE.

 

XI. New Business.

Charter: A question was raised as to who will pay. Last year it was the troop. Ev Thomas motions that we should pay for ourselves. 2nd by Bill Marvin. Robyn Cornwell calls the question. All in favor. Motion passes

XII. Adjournment. Robyn Cornwell, 9:05P.M. approved.
