October 11, 2000
Present: Dick Shaffer, Reid Cornwell, Bill Marvin, Tom Koch,
Charlie Simpson, Robyn Cornwell
Charlie Simpson called the meeting to order at 7:15 p.m.
Approval of 9/13/00 minutes. Motion, seconded, approved.
A. Presentation of 2000-2001 Activities Calendar (Bob Koch & David
Shaffer)
See attached calendar
B. Scoutmaster’s Report- Dick Shaffer
Transportation- always a problem. We need a committee member whose only
job is to arrange transportation for activities. Maybe Ev can recruit this
position.
The troop has historically had an arrangement with Timberline Barber where
25˘ of the cost of every haircut has been
donated to the Boy Scouts. Dick has received a letter from Mike Danis, the
owner of Timberline Barber, stating that he would like to contribute these
monies to Carlos Santos for the remainder of the 2000-2001 ski season. Dick
feels we need to acknowledge these past contributions with a plaque, maybe
presented at a meeting with a newspaper reporter present. These monies have
been critical to the Boy Scout / Cub Scout Camporee. Tom and Dick will pick
out a plaque and order it.
Dick also wanted to share that our troop should be focusing in on the Pack,
making sure the Webelos are meeting Arrow of Light requirements.
C. Fundraising
Dick expressed concern over lack of coverage at the tree lot during the
day, since the troop has depended on Lori Norton in the past.
Warming Hut- have we got one? What about fencing? Do we have a fully
staffed calendar? We need news from Travis.
D. Advancement- Reid Cornwell
Court of Honor- scheduled for October 23rd at 7:00 p.m. Data
sheet attached with list of each badge or honor scouts will receive.
Eagle Projects- Both David Payne and Josh Mirto have completed the work
on their Eagle Projects. Josh needs to complete Personal Fitness and Climbing
merit badges as well as all paperwork prior to his birthday on11/8.
Motion: 1) December will contain scout meetings as usual, Christmas
party, and a ski hike. 2) Order 225 trees from Safeway. 3) Venture Patrol will
cut 75 – 100 trees, unless locals can procure permits to cut their own. Need
to reduce number of local trees cut if that is the case.
E. Equipment- Tom Koch
Equipment for stoves in process of being repaired.
Three tents need zippers fixed.
Equipment inventory is still not complete.
F. Treasurer’s Report- Kate Johnson
No report at this time.
G. Old Business
Robyn recommended that we keep to the first Wednesday after the first
Monday of a month for our meeting dates. We are on the calendar at Upper Blue
for those dates and changes require several phone calls to confirm new dates.
Committee members agreed.
H. New Business
None.
I. Announcements
Scoutmaster Basic has been cancelled. Revised schedule may include one
Saturday a month for three months.
Point of clarification- new scouts will have dues prorated.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:11 p.m. The next meeting will be held on
