    1. Scoutmaster’s Report- Dick Shaffer / Tom Koch
    1. Elections- Elections were held on Monday, August 28th. Bob Koch will continue as Senior Patrol Leader with David Shaffer as Assistant SPL. Morgan Cornwell will continue as Troop Guide along with Chris Marvin. Patrol leaders will be elected before the end of September.
    2. Bike Hike- this event will take place on Saturday, September 16th at 8:30 a.m. Scouts will meet at the Boreas Pass Trailhead and need to be in full uniform with a helmet. A photographer from Boys’ Life will be there taking pictures in preparation for a cover story for the magazine.
    3. Boy Scout/ Cub Scout Camporee- This annual event will take place on September 22- 24 at Spruce Grove Campground. The troop will be missing many of the older scouts due to a conflict with the high school Homecoming weekend and activities.
    4. Annual Plan- The plan is drafted but has not been finalized. Dick will schedule the SPL to attend a committee meeting when the plan is completed.
    1. Activity Report – Tom Koch
    1. See above.
    2. Tour Permits- Tom needed to submit tour permits for Bike Hike and Camporee. Got signatures and list of drivers for both activities.
    3. National Camping Award- Tom has found out that with 408 cumulative camping nights between Sept.1, 1999 and Aug. 31, 2000, the troop has earned a Bronze ribbon to display on their flag.

D. Fundraising (Travis Bennett)

    1. Christmas Tree Sales- Travis has not heard back from Randy Griffin of City Market. Venture Patrol has agreed to cut local trees. We will need to order 225 plantation trees from Safeway with at least 15 of those being taller. Currently, there are only five families signed up on the matrix. Four boys are waiting for the hockey schedule, but with 27 total boys, concern was voiced about the lack of commitment. Ev said that he would be working as well as Charlie, Jerry, and Travis. Travis said he would donate 200 lbs.. of propane. Travis did not have an opportunity to check into the selling of wreaths.
    2. Wellington & Main Lot- will be the site this year. Need to check into restrooms.
    3. Motion: 1) December will contain scout meetings as usual, Christmas party, and a ski hike. 2) Order 225 trees from Safeway. 3) Venture Patrol will cut 75 – 100 trees, unless locals can procure permits to cut their own. Need to reduce number of local trees cut if that is the case.

E. Advancement (Reid Cornwell)

    1. Two Prospective Eagle Scouts pending completion of projects and national paperwork.
    2. Reid is anxiously awaiting data to get records up to date. Asst.. Scoutmaster still has not gotten camp information to Reid at this point.
    1. Equipment (Brian Wilson)
    1. Brian needs to look through information Kate provided for him
    2. Needs to look into shelves for the trailer
    3. Tents need to be repaired and some sort of check out system needs to be established for some accountability for how the tents are maintained. Quartermaster should be in charge of organizing this.
    4. Need to find some method for carrying canopy and poles. PVC pipes?
    5. Patrol boxes need to be designed and built. Brian said he would present a proposal.
    1. Training (Bill Marvin)
    1. Bill wants to know what is troop e-mail?
    2. Scoutmaster Basic will be offered on Oct. 27 – 29th at Wohlford Campground. Recommended for all Scoutmasters, Asst.. Scoutmasters, and all interested Scouters who have not had it.
    3. October 25th is the tentative date for Youth Protection/ Safety Issues training (7:00 – 9:00 p.m.)
    4. Roundtables? 1 to 1 ½ hrs. Instruction / discussion, maybe quarterly. Must address training issues soon. Training day each month?
    5. September 20- Meet to finish policies and procedures.
    1. Treasurer’s Report (Kate Johnson)
    1. Refund- we are entitled to a possible refund of $400.00 from camp.
    2. Checking Account- $84.76 (8/31/00)
    3. Savings Account- $6,400.40 (8/31/00)
    1. Old Business
    1. None.
    1. New Business
    1. Motion: Future Eagle projects will be reviewed at regularly scheduled Committee meetings. Motion carried unanimously.
    2. National Jamboree 2001- (Information received from Ed Arnold over the telephone to Ev Thomas) The Troop attending will consist of 36 boys (4 X 8 patrols plus one boy leader) and 4 adult leaders. The tour is available to all boys and will include mandatory sightseeing trips on either end of the Jamboree at the approximate cost of $2500.00 (not including spending money). Five days before will include NY, Philadelphia, and Washington; DC and three days after will be totally in the Washington, DC area. Although the trip is set, there will be some room for boy planning of specific sights to see or visit in November of 2000. No fundraising will be available at the Council or District level. Ed Arnold felt that all of troop should raise money for the boys attending. Justification for troop fundraising would be that the boys attending would bring back leadership skills to the troop. Ed Arnold was amenable to coming and making a presentation to the troop or committee regarding the National Jamboree plans.
    1. Announcements
    1. Brian Wilson resigned from the committee effective immediately after making sure that the boys in the Venture Patrol who went on the 50-mile rafting trip received their Whitewater Merit Badge.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:20 p.m. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 4th, at 7:00 p.m. at Upper Blue Elementary.
