Troop 187 Committee Special Fundraising meeting December 5, 2001 Attending: Bill Bartels, Ev Thomas, Mark Saldivar, Tom Koch, Bill Marvin, Ira Redner, Robyn Cornwell, Morgan Cormwell. I. Meeting called to order at 7:03 II. Approval of minutes from last meeting A. November 12 Committee meeting minutes, motion to approve minutes made by Ira Redner and seconded by Ev Thomas. Minutes approved with corrections. III. Scoutmaster Report - Tom Koch A. Philmount packet for assistant scoutmasters now available. Workshop needs to began as soon as possible. Philmount has requested one adult leader to be Red Cross certified and has CPR training. B. Troop elections to be held the week of December 12th. There will also be a leadership forum. This will be a big step, two boys on the ballot for this and two to four boys on the ballot for senior patrol leader. C. Request of the committee for fund to purchase software for Pioneer projects. This program comes after Knots. Committee has approved the request for funds for the software $ 21.95 plus tax. Lee Edwards moved to approve funds, Mark Saldivar 2nd. All in Favor, motion passes. D. Tom Koch had a sever insulin reaction at WendyĘs before the Air Force Football Game. Special thanks need to go to the WendyĘs Manager Joe, Woodland Park Ambulance drivers, Chris C. and Chris E. Bob Koch and Morgan cornwell acted appropriately, will receive award. Doug Person critical to toms recovery. E. Boys and adults need to know of tomĘs condition and should know how to respond if this were to happen again. F. The winter months are good months to work on Leadership Training. Assistant scoutmaster meeting was held, Tom koch was only one to attend. Another meeting is on the agenda. Any ideas would be helpful. G. Robyn Cornwell made a reminder that the Christmas party is on the 17th of December. 6 to 8 younger scouts have picked boys and girls names to give gifts to. IV. Fundraising-Ira Redner Gang busters!!!! As of Sunday we are in the black. See hand out. Ira made a comment about too many parents working the lot without their scout. He feels that this is not appropriate. Some trees selling better than others. See handout. Ira has requested additional funds to purchase more wreaths and stands, he requested $450.00 more. He also has asked if he should buy a larger wreath and stand size. Lee Edwards motioned to give Ira an additional $500.00 for the purchase of wreaths and stands. Mark Saldivar 2nd. All in favor, motion passes. Two announcements: A. Please donĘt leave customers unattended. Butter up the customer and help them to make their decision on the purchase. B. It is too early to decide on shift changes. The 6 - 8 shift seems week on the weekdays. We may need to look into spreading out to other lots around town. C. Profit Sheet - See attachment.
V. Outdoor / Activities Report - Mark Saldivar The Air Force football game was the activity for the month. Twenty people attended, 16 boys and 4 adults. Boys names that are circled need to pay for their tickets. Our drivers were: Tom koch, John OĘConner, Rhonda and Doug person. Mark Call Philmount and requested a High Adventure handbook. They will send out one soon. Winter camping activity will be okpic. 5 scouts have signed up, ten spots available. Boys the age of 13 are eligible to go. The boys that go will teach the other boys what they have learned. The dates are January 1st - 6th. Bill Marvin and Mark Saldival will be going. A ropes course will be offered at camp Tahosa on June 14th - 16th. The BOEC was too expensive and offered no locals discount. VI. Treasurer Report - Ira Redner. See handout. VII. Advancement Report - Ev Thomas. COURT OF HONOR in January, 21 merit badges to be given out Library and scribe - need new boys for positions. They need to be made to work in this position. Scouts that worked at the tree lot should receive a salesmen badge. VIII. Training Report - Lee Edwards. Nothing to report. IX. Equipment Report - Bill Marvin. No new equipment to report on. Thank you notes needed for donated equipment for the tree lot He will need names and address of people who donated the equipment. X. Old Business. Note - Shaping the Summit and Make a Difference Day on October 13th, Boys that contributed need to be recognized.
