Committee meeting

Upper Blue Elementary

June 5, 2002

Attending: Bill Bartels, Tom Koch, Ira Redner, Robyn Cornwell Nancy Woods, Mark Saldivar, Mike McKee, Lee Edwards

I. Meeting called to order at 7:05 by Robyn Cornwell

II. Approval of minutes from last meeting

A. May 8th minutes approved with corrections. Ira motions and Mark 2nd. All in Favor.

III. Scoutmaster Report - Tom Koch

1. Super hike canceled. All five new scouts went to spring camp and did a super hike there 2. The birthday thing is going well all enjoyed the cake and punch. The next one will be on June 24th.

3. Court of Honor did very well last week.

4. Philmont practice hike on June 7,8,9th and one on June 21,22,23 will be held. The boys need to participate in at least one of these hikes before going to Philmont. This will be around the Middle Fork of the Swawn River.

5. The boys did a shake down , all went well ,however, there is room for improvement.

6. Elitch Gardens on the 14th. twenty two people will be going. Will need some drivers.

7. COPE course, will need drivers to go. thirteen people to go.

8. Departure for philmont is June 27th. Leave at 4:00am. Will stay at Whitting center for one night. Will participate in shooting of .22Æs for a five dollar fee. Will stay at the closed camping access.

9. Fun meeting needed for the next two following Mondays, July 1, and July 8th. REC night or Fishing or bowling, etc.... Boys will meet and decide.

10. July 17th will be next Committee meeting.

11. Eagle Court of Honor to be held on July 22, 23, 24, 25 or on Aug. 1st for David Pain.

12. Tom has requested a new videoö A time to Tellö before summer camp on July 22nd. Lee Edwards to get video.

13. Airline tickets for sea-base need to look for on April 4th to the 11th, 2003

IV. Outdoor / Activities Report - Nancy Wood

A. Bike trip to Poncha springs was a good time for all. It was held on June 7, 8, 9th

B. David Shaffer backing out of Elk Horn camp. Does he get his money back? Ira makes a motion to give half back if David can not find a replacement. Seconded by Bill B. Motion Passes.

v. Treasurer Report - Ira Redner.

VI. Advancement Report - Ev Thomas.

Board of Review for some of the first class scouts.

VII. Training Report - Lee Edwards.

1. Tom ask Lee to get the video ôA time to Tellö before the boys go to summer camp.

2. Some people to get training; Burt Skull, Nancy Wood, Zack Margoas, and Rich Ferris.

VIII. Equipment Report - Bill Marvin.

Bill marvin has quit as Equipment Chairman and Mike McKee has Volunteered to take his place.

XI. New Business.

After the recent incident at the last scout meeting, it is apparent that there is too much parent participation. What can we do to help or support Tom? Robyn will draft a letter to be sent out to all the parents explaining that too much parent involvment is disruptive to the meetings.
