Committee meeting

Upper Blue Elementary

November 6, 2002

 

Attending: Bill Bartels, Ev Thomas, Ira Redner, Robyn Cornwell, Lee Edwards, Nancy Woods, Charlie Simpson

I. Meeting called to order at 7:06 by Robyn Cornwell

II. Approval of minutes from last meeting

A. October 9th minutes approved with corrections. Ev Thomas motions and Charlie Simpson 2nd. All in Favor. motion passes. Christmas tree Fund-raiser minutes, Ira makes the motion to approve Ev 2nd. All in favor, motion passes.

III. Scoutmaster Report - Tom Koch (Absent)

Robyn Cornwell

1. Rec. center night will be next Monday night. Forms for rock climbing need to be filled out and turned in.

2. The Summit Foundation food drive ô Fill the Vanö will be on Nov 23rd. There will be three (3) shifts with Six (6) scouts each. This will take place at both City Market and Safeway. Times will be 10:00 am to 12:00 PM and 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. These donations are for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

3. Tom Dickie approached Robyn about a flag ceremony for Veterans Day. Some problems cropped up in the passed with scouts being teased by other boys not in scouting and one boy from troop 188 dropped out for that reason. A suggestion was made to invite troop 188 committee members to join our next committee meeting.

IV. Outdoor / Activities Report - Nancy Wood

1. Christmas Tree Lot work day, see handout

2. Hours for tree lot were discussed.

3. Schedule for tree lot may be out on November 11th.

4. Summit Hut trip is scheduled for Jan. 4th. sign up sheets needed. To date only seven boys signed up to go.

5. Sea Base, every thing on schedule.

6. Waiting for some misalanious things for Tree Lot

v. Treasurer Report - Ira Redner.

VI. Advancement Report - Ev Thomas.

1. November 18th is the next scheduled Board of Review. No scouts have call as of yet. Ev will e-mail us if this changes.

2. The 50 miler badge will be awarded to several of the senior scouts.

3. Bill Marvin will be the merit badge councilor for space exploration and Doug Pearson will be the merit badge councilor for Auto Mechanic.

4. A new boy packet will need to be given to Klintworth.

5. Court of Honor will be in February.

 

VII. Training Report - Lee Edwards.

A. see handout.

VIII. Equipment Report - Mike McKee.

Zack Margolis has excepted the position of equipment chairman. Bill Marvin will assist.

IX. Christmas Tree Fund-raiser Update.

XI. New Business:

Nancy Woods

Does the Scout Master need to pay for activities out of his own pocket or should he be reimburse? Discussion followed covering topics of summer camp, high adventure, etc.

Ira made a motion to pay for the Scout Masters activities and mileage. High Adventure will not be covered: Scheduled troop activities excluding national camps will be paid for. Lee Edwards calls the question, Ev 2nd, All in favor. motion passes

Ira makes a second motion for the same wording for all Assistant Scout Masters, Ev 2nd. Discussion tabled until December 4th meeting

November 18-22

Father Dyer to be moved back into. Looking for boys to help on those days. Will need about 10 boys. Time, 3:30 - 5:00. The phone tree will need to be done to organize the boys who will work. Tom will e-mail everyone. This will count for community hours. Dedication on November 24th.

The annual Christmas party will be at Father Dyer on December 16th.
